The Death of Blogging

So hey, I've decided to start blogging. This is maybe a weird decision as it comes just at the moment when pretty much the entire internet world is declaring the death of blogging, or at least the death of blogging as it has been. But having a voice in this world is still important, especially for people (like me) who find themselves doing crazy jump-off-the-cliff - l'appel-du-vide life changing things.

Here's the recap of my year so far: 1. I got married (to Bruin) 2. I quit my job 3. I changed my name 4. We put all of our stuff in storage and left the apartment we had been in for 4+ years. This was the apartment that we lived in for the bulk of our pre-marriage relationship. The apartment we lived in while we discovered our style and our aesthetic voice. The apartment we lived in while we planned our wedding. The apartment we lived in when the idea for Bast + Bruin was born. So, it was a big move 5. We launched Bast + Bruin (!!) 6. We flew to Colombia and spent a month wandering around South America 7. We packed up our cat and our snake and moved from Santa Cruz, CA to Seattle, WA.

I lay all of that out just to illustrate how much has shifted in my world in the last 6 months and why creating a space to talk about change and growth feels important right now. These days the biggest thing on my mind is working on my business and learning how to be an entrepreneur and a maker and a sole proprietor and a creative director and, most importantly, how to own all of those titles. I want to use this blog to assist in that process and also to document all of the weird avenues I find myself on as I try to grow Bast + Bruin.

And just because it's a blog and I like images, here are some pictures to illustrate the last year :)
